Speaking to young people in their own language, without rhetoric or discounts. This is the goal of "Not One More," the social advertising short film written and directed by Maurizio Braucci, which will premiere tomorrow in Naples at the Casanova High School. This marks the official launch of an awareness campaign against the spread and use of guns among young people, one of the most pressing social issues of recent years.
The short film adopts a direct, essential style, built on timing and framing that recall the communication codes most familiar to the younger generations. It's a work that doesn't judge, but rather confronts reality, showing how thin the line is between playful gestures and irreversible violence. Braucci, a filmmaker associated with works such as Gomorrah, Black Souls, and Piranhas, aims to engage young people, making them protagonists of a reflection that concerns them first and foremost.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director, some of the cast, and representatives from institutions, schools, and juvenile justice. This will be an open discussion on a phenomenon that, as Braucci himself emphasizes, has seen a growing number of victims of trivial gunshot wounds in recent years. The stated goal is to break through indifference and raise collective awareness, calling for concrete commitment from institutions as well.
The short's final message is clear and leaves no room for interpretation: in movies, guns are fake, but in reality, they actually kill. A phrase that recalls Chekhov's famous "pistol," but twists it with a contemporary twist, bringing everything back to the weight of real-world consequences. Featuring young actors, most of them newcomers, the project speaks to peers but also engages families, educators, and social workers.
After the presentation, "Not One More" will be shared on the campaign's social media channels and screened in schools, starting in Campania, as well as in some Neapolitan movie theaters. A concrete attempt to use cinema as a prevention tool, before it's truly too late.
