Naples – A simple garbage can transformed into a logistics warehouse for organized crime. This is the disturbing discovery made by the Carabinieri in Secondigliano, in the heart of an area where control of drug dealing hubs and friction between clans requires the immediate availability of firearms and narcotics.
The tip-off and the discovery
It all started with an anonymous call to 112. A voice reported the presence of a suspicious bag abandoned on Via Privata Ricci, a seemingly quiet side street but strategic for internal movements in the neighborhood.
When the local station's military personnel arrived on the scene, what looked like a bag of rubbish or old clothes turned out to be a veritable "kit" for the underworld.
Inside the bag, the Carabinieri They found a 9x21 caliber automatic pistol. The weapon was in perfect working order, oiled, and ready for use: a detail that suggests it hadn't been thrown away to be discarded, but rather "ambushed" waiting to be picked up by an affiliate for an imminent action or to defend a drug dealing hub.
In addition to the weapon, the bag contained a heterogeneous magazine, a sign of the firepower available to the criminal groups in the area:
75 bullets of various types, including 19 9x19 caliber rounds (often used in war weapons), 51 16-gauge cartridges (for smoothbore shotguns), and .32 caliber ammunition.
Alongside the weapons was the clans' economic "fuel": drugs. The package contained nearly two kilos of narcotics, ready to be cut and distributed: 1.1 kilos of hashish; 683 grams of marijuana; and 93 grams of pure cocaine.
The suspicion: weapons at the disposal of the clans
Investigators have no doubts: the seized material belongs to the criminal network that controls the northern area of Naples. The method of concealment—in a public but discreet location—is typical of Camorra strategies to prevent weapons and drugs from being found in the homes of convicted criminals during house searches.
The "bin" served as a temporary storage facility for the system's workers, ready to collect the goods at the appropriate time.
The crux of the investigation now moves to the RaCIS (Carabinieri Scientific Investigations Group) laboratories. The 9x21 pistol was urgently sent to the ballistics section for a series of unique tests.
The primary objective is to verify, through the comparison of the striations of the bullet and the cartridge cases, whether this specific weapon was used in recent bloody incidents or "stese" that occurred between Secondigliano, Scampia and the surrounding municipalities.
In a moment of tension, where the criminal balance is precarious, associating that weapon with an injury or an unsolved murder could provide a decisive turning point in the DDA's investigations.
