Naples – An arsenal of explosives ready to explode in the squares of Naples and its province has been dismantled by the Guardia di Finanza. Just days before New Year's Eve celebrations, the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) has dealt a devastating blow to the illegal fireworks industry, seizing 2,5 tons of explosive material.

The operation, coordinated by the Interior Ministry, involved a series of targeted searches that covered not only the neighborhoods of the capital but also the surrounding municipalities such as Casoria, Ercolano, Acerra, and San Giuseppe Vesuviano. The toll was heavy: three people were arrested, while seven others were charged at large with possession and illegal trade of explosives.

Among the 300 pieces seized, investigators focused their attention on numerous homemade explosive devices described as "lethal." These are not simple pyrotechnics, but actual illegal bombs lacking any safety standards, potentially capable of causing irreversible damage to people and serious structural damage to buildings.

The operation is part of a plan to strengthen security measures during the Christmas period. According to the Ministry of the Interior's official channels, the operation allowed the removal of products from the black market that, if misused, could have turned New Year's Eve into a tragedy.
