Naples witnessed the Guardia di Finanza's massive "Safe Christmas" raid, which led to the seizure of over 3 million dangerous and counterfeit items, including non-compliant lights, with the aim of protecting consumer health and combating the underground economy in preparation for the upcoming Christmas holidays.

The "Safe Christmas" operation, conducted by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Naples, yielded a staggering result: over 3 million items were seized, including counterfeit products and merchandise lacking minimum safety standards.
The Guardia di Finanza's offensive to protect the market and consumers has led to 110 individuals being reported to the competent authorities. Specifically, 62 individuals have been reported to the Chamber of Commerce for administrative violations, while another 48 have been reported to the Judicial Authorities: they will face charges of various kinds, including counterfeiting, commercial fraud, and receiving stolen goods.

Finance police searched businesses and warehouses across a vast area. In the capital, the checks focused on the neighborhoods of San Lorenzo, Pendino, Poggioreale, Porto, Mercato, and Zona Industriale.
The operations also extended to the Northern area (Giugliano, Villaricca, Casoria, Casavatore), the Vesuvian area (Nola, Marano, Palma Campania) and the Oplontina and coastal area (Torre Annunziata, Castellammare, Sorrento).
The clandestine “SSC Napoli” sock laboratory
One of the most significant raids was carried out by the Green Berets of the Emergency Response Group in Poggioreale. The officers discovered a veritable counterfeiting operation, set up illegally in a private property.
Inside, an Italian citizen had set up an illegal assembly line with professional sewing and cutting machines. The man was caught making Epiphany stockings with counterfeit SSC Napoli logos and images of beloved children's characters like Stitch, Barbie, and Spider-Man. The entire workshop was seized, blocking a supply channel that would have flooded the stalls ahead of the Epiphany.
From “Labubu” to killer lights
The goods seized by the 2nd Metropolitan Operations Unit include the most sought-after products of the moment: “Labubu” dolls, Pokemon cards, Barbie gadgets, and counterfeit luxury clothing (Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada).
Particularly alarming was the seizure of huge quantities of Christmas lights. The strings of lights, lacking the CE mark or bearing false certifications, posed a serious danger to homes: not complying with regulations, they could have caused short circuits, electric shocks, and house fires.
The operation confirms the Guardia di Finanza's commitment to combating the underground economy, which, especially during the holidays, harms honest entrepreneurs and jeopardizes the safety of citizens.
