Napoli, in the night, a man's collapse: the marital crisis and the unexpected gesture. A marriage in tatters, a mind clouded by anger and jealousy, and a recurring thought: leave that house at any cost.

This is the picture that emerges from the incident that occurred last night involving a 46-year-old man from the Traiano district, already known to the police, who, he said, was overwhelmed by his wife's constant infidelity.

According to the reconstruction, the man left the house after yet another argument, in an altered emotional state and unable to manage the wave of revengeful thoughts tormenting him. The most absurd yet lucid decision, in his desperate logic, was made just minutes later.

The scene in the barracks

At 22.15pm the 46 year old showed up at the train station Carabinieri from the Traiano district. He knocked on the door and, turning to the soldier on duty, said, "Brigadié, otherwise I'll get into trouble!" His confusion was evident: his voice trembling, his sweating profusely, his complexion pale, and a torrent of words.

As he explained his discovery of his wife's affair, the man pulled a package from his pocket. Inside, just under 50 grams of cocaine. The policeman, incredulous, immediately administered a drug test: positive.

In the shoulder bag, another 5 grams of the same substance and €260 in cash, divided into bills of various denominations. At that point, the 46-year-old confessed everything: the drugs were intended for sale and the money was the proceeds of the latest sales.

“I want to go to jail”

In his confused statement, the man repeatedly reiterated that he didn't want to return home, that he didn't want to see his wife again. So much so that he explicitly requested his arrest, explaining that he'd rather go to prison than face another night under the same roof.

The Carabinieri had no alternative: the 46-year-old was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. He was held in custody pending trial. House arrest was not granted, precisely because of his personal circumstances and the risk of further family tensions.

The story, with its dramatic and surreal overtones, once again highlights how situations of emotional fragility can intertwine with illicit activities, producing unpredictable and, in this case, paradoxically self-incriminating outcomes.
