Naples – The hunt for the "smartphone predators" ended at dawn today. Carabinieri officers from the Vomero Company Operational Unit closed in on two men, aged 35 and 53, who had been placed under house arrest by the Naples Court's investigating judge at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.

Both are charged with snatching theft, a crime that has caused concern among passersby in the hilly neighborhoods and eastern suburbs in recent months.

The investigation, coordinated by the VII "Urban Security" Section of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, is a mosaic piece by piece reconstructed through the scrutiny of video surveillance systems and the courageous testimony of the victims. The suspects are accused of two key incidents: acting quickly and violently to snatch cell phones from passersby.

The first attack occurred in the heart of Vomero, targeting a 60-year-old woman. On that occasion, the brutal force used to steal the device caused the woman minor injuries, turning a theft into a traumatic physical assault. The second incident, in the industrial area, involved a 53-year-old woman, caught using the same technique.

The two criminals were betrayed by the combination of the city's electronic surveillance cameras and the formal identification by one of the victims, allowing investigators to name and identify those responsible. Today's operation represents a decisive response from the State to the petty crimes that affect the most vulnerable segments of the population.

The article about this "smartphone predator" bust is interesting, but in my opinion, there's too much unclear information. People need to know more details about how these arrests came about and what happens next.
