A flood of tourists is ready to flock to Campania for the Immaculate Conception long weekend, guaranteeing an exceptional economic return for the region. Projections from the Confesercenti Campania research center are extremely positive: the long weekend of December 6, 7, and 8 will generate a total turnover of nearly €215 million.
The monstrous revenue comes from both hospitality activities (hotels and non-hotels) and from indirect activities involving bars, restaurants, shops, crafts, and services.
Naples, over 400 arrivals
"Campania, with Naples at the forefront, confirms its position as a favorite destination for tourists, both foreign and Italian, even this long weekend," said Vincenzo Schiavo, president of Confesercenti Campania and national vice president with responsibility for Southern Italy.
The extension to three nights and four days, in fact, will allow commercial and hospitality businesses to benefit from significant revenue.
Estimated Arrivals: Around 430 tourists.
Capital of the Flow: Over 200 visitors expected in Naples alone.
Hospitality Revenue: €148 million for hotels and non-hotel facilities.
Related industries (Bars, Restaurants, Trade): Approximately 64 million euros.
Specifically, the average occupancy rate for accommodations stands at around 78%, with higher peaks expected in Naples and the Amalfi Coast. The estimated average per capita spending is €65 per night for accommodation and approximately €50 for extras (souvenirs, meals, services). Total turnover, as mentioned, exceeds €212 million.
The details of Naples' success
The Neapolitan capital confirms itself as the driving force of tourism:
Tourists arriving in Naples: Over 200.000.
Hospitality Turnover (Naples): 85 million euros (equal to 57% of the regional total).
Induced Turnover (Naples): Approximately 40 million euros (60% of the total induced turnover).
Added to these figures is the arrival of "commuters": around 10 visitors are expected every day in the capital alone, thanks to the influx of 80 buses and thousands of arrivals by train.
The Test for Christmas
According to Confesercenti, the Immaculate Conception long weekend represents the first test in preparation for a Christmas season that promises to be "sold out."
"The tourism boom shows no signs of slowing down," concludes Schiavo, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of hospitality and services, including punctual transportation, to deseasonalize influxes and ensure year-round attendance.
