Naples – A Friday night that turns into tragedy On the streets of eastern Naples, a 46-year-old man lost his life in a serious accident in the heart of the Ponticelli neighborhood. The crash occurred around 8:30 PM, while the victim was riding his scooter along a side street off the central Via de Meis.
According to initial reports, the 46-year-old, a resident of Castello di Cisterna, suddenly lost control of the two-wheeler, crashing violently onto the asphalt. The impact was devastating.
Rescue operations began immediately, with emergency transport to the Ospedale del Mare, the leading medical facility for the eastern part of the city. Despite the doctors' efforts, however, there was nothing that could be done for the motorcyclist: the trauma and internal injuries sustained in the fall were too severe. His heart stopped beating shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Officers from the Municipal Police Road Accident Unit, led by Captain Vincenzo Cirillo, arrived at the scene of the tragedy to conduct the necessary investigations. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident remain shrouded in mystery, which investigators are working to resolve.
It's still unclear whether the accident was a one-off—perhaps caused by inattention, illness, or the poor road surface—or whether another vehicle was involved, perhaps a hit-and-run driver who cut off the scooter rider and then fled the scene. Investigations are ongoing to fully understand the incident and provide the victim's family with the truth.
