Portici – It was an afternoon of tension and outrage yesterday in Portici, where the State Police put an end to the criminal conduct of a man caught engaging in obscene acts in a busy and sensitive area. A 59-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to law enforcement for specific crimes, was arrested by officers from the Portici-Ercolano Police Station.
The operation took place in Piazza San Pasquale, following a report to the local Operations Room of a man engaging in acts of autoeroticism in public, who then directed his attention, and his gesture, toward the entrance of a nearby school building.
The officers, engaged in patrolling the area, immediately arrived on the scene. Upon seeing the uniforms, the man tried in vain to evade the patrol and escape, but was quickly caught and apprehended by the officers.

Subsequent investigations by the police station revealed the seriousness of the situation: the 59-year-old had already been reported in the previous days for verbally harassing several female students, making inappropriate comments to them.
The man is now under arrest on charges of indecent exposure in a public place. Police are maintaining high levels of vigilance to ensure safety in the areas surrounding the schools.
