Fear erupted this morning in Positano, on the Amalfi Coast, following a serious workplace accident involving a 43-year-old worker who fell into a ravine in a remote area not far from the road leading to the hamlet of Montepertuso, in the province of Salerno.

According to initial reconstructions, the man was working in a steep area when, for reasons still under investigation, he fell several meters down the slope.

The possibility that a sudden illness may have been the cause of the fall has not yet been ruled out, but all hypotheses remain open.

Colleagues immediately raised the alarm and 118 was dispatched to the scene, which activated the air rescue and requested the support of the Fire Brigade and the Campania Alpine and Speleological Rescue (CNSAS), which specializes in interventions in remote areas.

Rescue operations proved complex due to the terrain's morphology, characterized by cliffs and dense vegetation. CNSAS technicians and firefighters reached the 43-year-old, stabilized him, and placed him on a special stretcher for recovery from the cliff. Once he was safely back up, the man was handed over to the air rescue team for urgent transport to the San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno.

Upon arrival at Ruggi Hospital, the worker underwent the necessary diagnostic tests: he suffered several injuries and trauma, but his condition is not considered life-threatening. The prognosis remains guarded pending the evolution of his clinical condition.

Carabinieri officers from the Positano station also attended the scene of the accident, conducting investigations to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident and verify compliance with workplace safety regulations.

The investigation will continue in the coming hours, including interviewing any witnesses and acquiring documentation relating to the construction site and the safety procedures adopted.
