Last night in Quarto, a 50-year-old Georgian man attempted to break into an apartment on Via Cimarosa, but his hasty escape down the stairs ended with a fall, which attracted the attention of the Carabinieri, leading to his arrest for attempted burglary.

Fourth – It was meant to be a silent robbery, carried out under the cover of darkness, but it turned into a daring escape that ended badly for the criminal, who ended up in handcuffs.

This is the result of a tense night on Via Cimarosa in Quarto, where the Carabinieri of the local station arrested a 50-year-old Georgian national, who was later found to be illegally residing in Italy.

It all happened last night. The silence of the residential neighborhood was shattered by the alarm raised by some residents of an apartment building, awakened by suspicious noises. The residents, with quick reflexes, surprised the man just as he was attempting to break into an apartment.

Seeing himself discovered and now trapped, the 50-year-old attempted a desperate escape by trying to escape through the condominium stairwell.

Haste, however, betrayed him: in the heat of the moment, the man lost his balance and fell heavily down the stairs. Officers from the Quarto station, supported by their colleagues from the Monte di Procida station, arrived immediately to the scene, cordoned off the area, and took custody of the injured fugitive.

Transferred to the hospital for further tests, the 50-year-old was treated and released with a 10-day prognosis for the bruises sustained in the fall. Once the entire incident was reconstructed and charges were filed, he was arrested.

Transferred to prison, he will now have to answer before the judicial authorities for the crimes of attempted aggravated theft and illegal immigration.
