Naples – Bank robbery in the Soccavo neighborhood. Early yesterday afternoon, around 3:00 PM, two robbers disguised as elderly people—with crutches and scarves—entered, one at a time, just minutes apart, the Montepaschi di Siena branch on Via dell'Epomeo.

Their faces were covered by Christmas masks, a detail that would have allowed the two to never clearly show themselves to employees and customers present.

Once inside, according to the reconstruction, one of the two pulled out a gun and threatened the staff, demanding they hand over the cash in the cash register: approximately 70 euros. The weapon was presumably fake and, for this reason, did not trigger the metal detector, allowing the commandos to act quickly and without being stopped by the security systems.

At the time, the branch was occupied by employees and a few customers. According to initial reports, the attack took about ten minutes: the time needed to seize the cash and leave the bank before the call for assistance was received.

After the alarm was raised, several patrol cars and forensic equipment arrived on the scene. The investigation is being handled by officers from the San Paolo police station, with the support of the Police Headquarters' Flying Squad (Anti-Robbery Section). Investigators have acquired internal and external video surveillance footage and have identified at least two accomplices who, in a car, were waiting on the street for the perpetrators of the robbery.

The investigative efforts, launched immediately, have led to the tracing of the getaway vehicle. However, identifying those responsible remains more complex, partly due to the disguise considered particularly accurate and "original."

Meanwhile, the branch manager and employees were interviewed to gather further useful information and as precise a description as possible of the robbers, excluding their faces, which would never be discovered.

According to initial indications, they were young—given their ease of movement despite their apparent disguise—and with a Neapolitan accent, judging by the accent of the armed robber who reportedly addressed the cashier. Investigators are cautiously optimistic, but no one is making any commitments at this time.

It's strange how two robbers could operate in a bank unnoticed, wearing such original disguises. Let's hope the investigation yields something useful, even if the descriptions are sparse and unclear.
