Fear erupted in San Valentino Torio, where a tobacconist's on Via Provinciale Amendola was targeted by two robbers. The masked criminals burst into the establishment, surprising customers and owners, and headed straight for the cash register.
According to initial reports, the shopkeepers attempted to defend their takings, even engaging in a physical confrontation with the bandits. This instinctive reaction, however, wasn't enough to stop the criminal activity: the robbers managed to steal the money and escape within moments, most likely by boarding a vehicle parked nearby.
After the alarm was raised by 112, the Carabinieri from the local station, coordinated by Marshal Di Stefano, responded to the scene. The officers took the victims' reports and began the initial investigation to reconstruct the incident.
Video surveillance footage will now be crucial to the investigation. Investigators have already acquired footage from cameras inside the bar and tobacconist's and those along the main road, with the aim of clarifying the exact sequence of events of the robbery and identifying the perpetrators.
