Salerno – Counterfeit, dangerous, and potentially lethal goods were intercepted by the Guardia di Finanza of the Province of Salerno. During an intensive enforcement operation, the Guardia di Finanza seized over 238.000 items, also securing a massive cache of illegally held pyrotechnics.
The operation, coordinated by the Salerno Group with the Departments of Nocera Inferiore, Cava de' Tirreni and Amalfi, involved the capital city and the municipalities of San Valentino Torio, Nocera Inferiore, Mercato San Severino, Pontecagnano-Faiano and Cava de' Tirreni.
The seizure numbers are record-breaking:
112.262 counterfeit products, which violate trademarks and intellectual property;
41.549 “unsafe” products, lacking the required legal documentation and potentially dangerous for consumers;
85.184 pyrotechnic articles (fireworks) without the required sales permits and stored without any safety measures. Their total net explosive potential is 332,07 kg, a quantity capable of causing serious disasters.
The investigation led to the arrest under house arrest of an Italian citizen, accused of introducing and selling explosives. Eleven other individuals were reported to the Judicial Authorities for crimes such as counterfeiting, receiving stolen goods, and violations of the Consolidated Law on Public Security.
The operation confirms the Guardia di Finanza's ongoing commitment to combating illicit commercial practices, which not only damage the legal market and the economy but also seriously jeopardize public health and safety, especially when they involve explosive materials and products lacking the necessary safety standards.

It's important that the Guardia di Finanza does its job, but I hope there will be more controls in the future because the sale of dangerous and counterfeit products harms everyone. Citizens must be protected.
