Dawn brought a shock of violence in Salerno, where a 40-year-old man was found seriously injured on the usually quiet seafront, as investigations intensify to uncover the motives behind this brutal attack.
Salerno – A dawn of violence has shaken the heart of Salerno. Around 5:00 this morning, December 23, a 40-year-old man was found in a pool of blood near a popular bar on the city's waterfront.
The man, struck by a fury of blows with a cutting weapon, is now hospitalized in critical condition at the "San Giovanni di Dio e Ruggi d'Aragona" hospital.
Passersby raised the alarm after noticing the body lying on the ground. When emergency medical services arrived, the scene was dramatic: the 40-year-old man had over 15 stab wounds concentrated in his abdomen, evidence of a violent and likely targeted attack. He was rushed to the hospital on Via San Leonardo, where he immediately underwent delicate surgery. The prognosis remains guarded.
Carabinieri officers from the Salerno Company responded to the scene of the attack, cordoning off the area to conduct forensic analysis. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered, but investigators are combing through footage from public and private video surveillance cameras in the area to identify the perpetrator(s) of the attack.
The motive remains unclear: the police are not ruling out any possibility, ranging from a bloody argument to a settling of scores. Potential witnesses who were in the waterfront area at first light may be interviewed in the coming hours.

I read that there were a lot of shots fired and the man is in serious condition, but I don't understand how something like this could happen in a place that's usually quiet. Let's hope they find the attacker soon.
