In Scampia, the Carabinieri arrested Gabriele De Biase, a fugitive since September 23, after a foot chase that resulted in a violent fight. This arrest marks a significant step in the fight against local crime, bringing the number of fugitives apprehended in 2023 to 21.

Naples – A daring escape through the streets of Scampia ended after a foot chase, a fall, and a violent fight.

This is how the Carabinieri of the Scampia station arrested Gabriele De Biase, 36, who had been on the run since last September 23rd pursuant to an order from the Naples Court of Appeal.

Officers spotted him traveling in a car with his partner. When stopped for a check, the man initially cooperated, but then suddenly attempted to flee. A foot chase ensued, which continued to the residential complex on Via Tancredi Galimberti, where De Biase climbed over a fence and fell from a height of approximately two meters.

The fall didn't put an end to the race, however: caught by a Carabinieri officer, the 36-year-old engaged in a violent struggle, managing to temporarily free himself and escape again. The race was finally stopped shortly thereafter, thanks to the intervention of a second officer who arrived to provide support.

Following his arrest, De Biase was taken to the hospital, where paramedics found abrasions that were expected to heal in ten days. The Marshal involved in the brawl suffered more serious injuries, receiving a thirty-day prognosis.

Following the completion of the standard investigations, the 36-year-old was transferred to prison. His arrest brings to 21 the number of fugitives captured by the Carabinieri of the Naples Provincial Command since the beginning of the year.

De Biase's arrest in Scampia shows how law enforcement is working hard to capture fugitives. It's important to note that security in the area is a priority. I hope these efforts will lead to an improvement in the situation.
