Today, as part of a broader effort coordinated at the district level by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office and at the district level by the Attorney General's Office at the Naples Court of Appeal, a new inspection was conducted on the stretch of coast within the jurisdiction of the Torre Annunziata Courthouse. This operation is part of a series of inspections already conducted in recent months, between July and December 2025, aimed at protecting state-owned maritime property and safeguarding the quality of marine waters.
The operations were conducted by the Port Authority - Coast Guard of Castellammare di Stabia and the Guardia di Finanza of the Massa Lubrense Company, with the technical support of the competent Municipal Office. The focus was on the works on the stretch of public maritime property belonging to the Municipality of Massa Lubrense, particularly in the town of Nerano (Marina del Cantone).
Upon completion of the inspections, nine beach and/or restaurant facilities were seized: five beach resorts and four restaurants. Despite no longer being active, these facilities had not been removed at the end of the bathing season, as required by the permits issued by the Municipality of Massa Lubrense, illegally occupying a total area of approximately 566 square meters of public maritime property.
The 10 individuals responsible for the structures have been reported at large to the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office for violations of Articles 54 and 1161 of the Navigation Code and Legislative Decree No. 42/2004 (Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code), given the environmental and landscape value of the affected area.
The Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that it will continue to coordinate, in the coming months, the verification of the proper use of public maritime property, working in synergy with local law enforcement. The goal remains to ensure free use of the public property and the protection of the marine environment, combating all forms of illegal occupation and activity on the surrounding coasts.
