Naples – An appeal that sounds like a strategic warning was launched today by the main trade unions of Campania's non-scheduled public transport to the newly elected Regional President, the Honorable Roberto Fico. The unions FAST/Confail, Federtaxi/Cisal, Sitan/Atn, Taxinapoli 8888, Ugl/Taxi, Unimpresa/Mobilità, Uri/Taxi, and Uti first wanted to express their sincere congratulations on his election, but immediately made clear the essential priorities for the sector.
The core of the message is twofold: the need for a "politically authoritative and technically competent" Transport Councillor and the urgency of immediately establishing a permanent discussion forum with the sector.
Regulatory chaos and rulings of the Council of State
The organizations representing the taxi sector emphasize the "strategic" role of non-scheduled public transport for the competitiveness, image, and economic and social cohesion of Campania. This role, according to the unions, is currently threatened by evident regulatory confusion.
Of particular concern are the "recent rulings by the Council of State" declaring one of the ministerial implementing decrees illegitimate. This scenario, the unions explain, is "generating interpretative and operational confusion," making a strong institutional point of reference at the regional level essential.
"At this delicate stage, we believe clear, coherent, and far-sighted political management is essential," the joint statement reads. "We ask that a discussion with our organizations be initiated as soon as possible, so as to build a stable, transparent, and truly participatory collaboration."
The recent approval of the regional law dedicated to the sector was welcomed as a positive sign, but the uncertainty surrounding national legislation risks undermining its effectiveness without strong political direction.
The trade representatives say they are ready to contribute to the development of a "modern, regulated, and fully integrated" transport system within the Campania Region's growth strategy, with a view to providing efficient and safe services for citizens, businesses, and tourists.
The appeal concludes with confidence in President Fico's "institutional sensitivity" and his desire to provide "new impetus to the political direction of regional mobility." The ball is now in the Honorable Fico's court, called upon to provide immediate responses to a critical sector demanding stability and high-level representation.

The article is interesting, but I believe there are many issues to be resolved in the public transportation sector in Campania. The laws are unclear, and this creates confusion among workers. Constant dialogue is needed.
