Naples – The redevelopment of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is entering an advanced technical evaluation phase, but remains tied to structural issues that still need to be resolved.
Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, speaking to Radio Crc, confirmed that work on the third ring road could begin relatively quickly, provided the vibration problem is resolved.
"We're working on the stadium's redevelopment," Manfredi explained. "Work on the third tier can begin quickly, but there's a vibration issue. We're conducting tests and experiments to eliminate them, using specific technologies." This passage highlights the administration's focus on the safety and structural sustainability of the facility.
The mayor did not rule out, however, the possibility of a new sports facility, should SSC Napoli and president Aurelio De Laurentiis decide to pursue this path. "If De Laurentiis and Napoli want to build a new stadium, we are in favor of it and will provide all the support we can," Manfredi clarified, while also pointing out the complexity of the operation.
"Building a stadium is a complicated thing," he added, "because you have to take into account urban planning, traffic, and services. A facility must be built in a location where all this is possible and feasible." This is an explicit reminder of the need for integrated, long-term planning.
The new president of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, also spoke along the same lines, but with a stronger emphasis on enhancing the existing infrastructure. He also spoke on Radio Crc. "The Maradona Stadium is our stadium and must be enhanced," he stated, emphasizing the facility's strategic role for the city and the entire region.
Fico noted that numerous sports facilities in Campania have already received funding for significant renovations. "I'm convinced that, as has happened with other stadiums and facilities in the region, the same should happen for the Maradona," he explained, implying the Region's willingness to support a revitalization project. "We have some ideas, and we'll implement them," he concluded.
The statements from the two main institutions thus outline a still-unclear scenario, suspended between the redevelopment of the current stadium and the possibility of a new home for Napoli, with the understanding that any decision will have to take into account technical, urban planning, and financial constraints.

The article about the Maradona Stadium is interesting, but many things are unclear. The vibration problems seem to be a major obstacle, and building a new stadium is complicated. I hope a solution is found.
