A story that had the communities of Portici and Naples in suspense has come to a close: sixteen-year-old Suamy Rispoli, missing since December 2nd after running away from her Portici foster home, has been found in Naples and temporarily placed in the care of her paternal uncle.

Giovanni Micera, the girl's mother's lawyer, announced the news. He specified that Suamy herself had expressed to the Carabinieri her wish not to be returned to the Portici protected facility, where she had been placed since last January after her parents' parental rights were suspended.

The young woman, who had left the facility voluntarily, was found thanks to searches coordinated by the military.

The temporary custody order placed with her paternal uncle will remain in effect until the next meeting with social services, which will assess the situation in the coming days and decide on the most appropriate course of action for the minor. In the meantime, the girl will not return to the foster home, at least for now.

The case reignites the debate on child protection and the difficulties of managing vulnerable family situations, raising questions about the choices made by protected facilities and the role of family members in supporting children in need.

I read the epilogue to this story and it seems important to address the challenges of protected facilities. It's difficult for minors like Suamy to find a balance, and the girl's decision is understandable, even if complex.

I think it's a right choice for a person who has a family member who wants
take care of her why on earth would she stay in a foster home?
