AC Milan bid farewell to the Italian Super Cup and, after the defeat against Napoli, Massimiliano Allegri is not looking for excuses. "We could have done better on the two goals. It was a well-played match by both teams, but they played better defensively and deservedly won.", declared the AC Milan coach to Mediaset microphones.

Allegri then shifted his attention to the defensive difficulties that have emerged in recent matches: "The referee and the refereeing team were good, but I have to analyze the match. In recent games, we've conceded goals too easily, and we need to improve on that." The regret for the missed final remains, but the gaze is already turned forward: "We're sorry, we wanted to reach the final, but now we're focusing on the league. When you concede two goals each time in three games, you have to rethink something defensively."

The coach defended his tactical choices and the work done so far: "Tonight we finished with a back four to try to recover, but this isn't a game that will overturn months of work. We need to be calm to get into the top four. We mustn't lose confidence." There is also room for a word of encouragement for Nkunku: "He's been working hard, he's had some favorable situations. The goal will open the scoring. He has excellent qualities, and they will emerge. He's been in Italy for three months. Some players need time to settle in."

Milan, Rabiot: "The foul on Politano? It didn't deserve a red card."

Adrien Rabiot, who analysed Milan's current situation with clarity, is on the same page: "I don't think there are any problems in attack. We scored even without Leao and Gimenez. We need to regain our compactness and solidity. We've conceded too many goals in recent games. We were too light defensively." The French midfielder does not hide his disappointment: "We're sorry, we could have fought for a trophy. But we're doing well in the league."

A passage on the refereeing incidents is inevitable: "Did Napoli ask for a red card for my challenge in the first half? It wasn't. The referee could have done much better, however, as he has in other matches. Today's result, however, wasn't due to the refereeing." Then the conclusion, without excuses: "This game is over now. We're disappointed, but we need to immediately get back to focusing on the championship, where we're doing well."
