Terzigno – A Christmas of pain and questions for Terzigno and Nola, where the sudden passing of Amalia Miranda, 67, sparked a criminal investigation. She died on December 25th at the Santa Maria della Pietà hospital, just three days after what appeared to be a simple domestic accident.
According to initial reports, it all began on December 22nd. The woman reported having been stung on her finger, presumably by an insect. What initially appeared to be a minor annoyance quickly developed into an alarming clinical picture: over the next few hours, the finger swelled abnormally, accompanied by the onset of acute gastrointestinal symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea.
His deteriorating health required emergency transport to the hospital and subsequent hospitalization. Despite monitoring and treatment by the Nola health workers, his condition deteriorated, culminating in his death on Christmas Day.
The investigation and the findings
At this time, a direct connection between the insect sting and the death remains a hypothesis being examined by investigators. To dispel any doubts and rule out any other pathologies or complications, the Nola Court Prosecutor's Office has opened a case:
Seizure of the body: The woman's body was transferred pending examinations.
Autopsy: The Public Prosecutor has ordered an autopsy, scheduled for Monday.
The forensic examination will be crucial to clarify whether the 67-year-old suffered anaphylactic shock, a severe infection, or whether her death was due to causes unrelated to the sting. The Terzigno community now awaits answers regarding the tragedy that has transformed the holiday season into a tragedy.
