Naples – As the holidays approach, the ASL Napoli 1 Centro – Veterinary Coordination Area and the Office for Environmental, Health, and Landscape Protection of the City of Naples are joining forces for an initiative that will warm the hearts of residents and their four-legged friends.
The special Christmas edition of "SEEKING A HOME: A CONSCIOUS ADOPTION PROCESS – A FOUNDLING UNDER THE TREE" is underway, a four-day event entirely dedicated to raising awareness about stray animals and promoting informed and responsible adoptions.
The initiative, which is in accordance with Regional Law 3/2019 on the welfare of pets, is not simply a showcase for adoptions, but a true educational program.
Instructions for a "Good Master"
The primary objective is to prepare future adopters. During the meetings, veterinarians from ASL Napoli 1 Centro and technical staff will explain in detail the fundamental issues of veterinary urban hygiene, emphasizing:
The responsibilities and duties of the good owner.
The correct development of the relationship between the dog and the new family.
Appropriate health and behavioral management of the animal.
All this to ensure the new furry family member's smooth integration into the family and social environment, preventing the tragic phenomenon of abandonment in the first place. Crucial topics such as preventing animal abuse and protecting public safety will also be addressed.
Meeting in the square with "La Collina di Argo"
The beating heart of the initiative will be the direct meeting between the Neapolitans and the protagonists: some of the "foundlings" currently guests of the municipal dog reception centre "La Collina di Argo" (located in Via V. Janfolla 229/245 and managed by the Veterinary Service of the ASL).
The dogs, accompanied by experts, will temporarily leave the shelter to visit some of the city's squares, offering residents a unique opportunity to meet and interact with them. This is a concrete way to encourage adoption and give a second chance to those just waiting for a warm home for Christmas.
The Local Health Authority (ASL) is making a clear appeal: adopting is a serious and lasting commitment. These days aim to transform the desire to have a pet into a mature and informed choice, ensuring that the excitement of Christmas doesn't turn into future abandonment.
