Lanciano. Posing as bank employees, they contact the victim and convince them to transfer their savings to "safeguard" them. This is the mechanism behind the scam discovered by the Carabinieri in Lanciano, in the province of Chieti, which led to the reporting of two people, aged 21 and 47, both residents of Naples, and the freezing of €30 in a bank account belonging to them.

The investigation began with a complaint filed by a 51-year-old local man, who was contacted by phone by alleged bank employees. "There are anomalies and suspicious transactions on your account," was the message used to create alarm and push the victim to take urgent action. Through trickery and deception, the man was tricked into making several bank transfers to accounts labeled as "security," but actually registered to the two scammers.

The timely intervention of the Carabinieri allowed them to reconstruct the money movements and freeze the sum before it was definitively stolen. The two suspects were charged with fraud, while the money remained under seizure. The swift filing of the complaint and the immediate investigation prevented more serious consequences, interrupting a scam that followed a recurring pattern and continues to target unsuspecting citizens through targeted phone calls and false bank alerts.
