Naples – For some time now, the city's roadways have been suffering from a state of degradation that has now reached the point of being unacceptable. Via Luigia Sanfelice in Vomero is just the latest, glaring example of superficial and negligent management of urban infrastructure. A road reduced to a crater field, where motorists, motorcyclists, and cyclists are forced to navigate a perilous daily maneuver to avoid the chasms that crisscross the road.
The images sent by a citizen to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli depict an alarming reality: crumbling asphalt, deep potholes, extensive depressions, and out-of-place manholes. A veritable lunar landscape, comparable in scale to cosmic craters, but actually the result of sloppy work and virtually no maintenance.
The echo of the protests
Borrelli, supported by Europa Verde municipal councilors Rino Nasti and Luca Bonetti, is blunt in his complaint: "The situation on Via Luigia Sanfelice is unacceptable. The damage has worsened following the recent renovation of the ABC utilities, which were carried out so superficially that they created new and larger sinkholes. This isn't maintenance, it's neglect."

Making the situation even worse is the presence of a nursery school right on the most degraded stretch of road. "Children, parents, and school staff are forced to travel through an unacceptably dangerous environment every day," the Green Party representatives complained. "Furthermore, the road surface conditions hinder the passage of ambulances and emergency vehicles, thwarting the speed required in emergency situations."
Appeal and request for responsibility
"We cannot tolerate citizens suffering the consequences of work carried out with such sloppiness," Borrelli continued. "We will formally report what happened and demand that the company responsible for the ABC restoration intervene immediately. Those who failed to monitor and who carried out such sloppy work must be held accountable for this criminal inertia, which seriously endangers public safety."
The appeal is clear: decisive and immediate action is needed to restore dignity and safety to Via Luigia Sanfelice, making it a livable street for residents, children, and emergency vehicles in need.

It's true that the situation on Via Luigia Sanfelice is truly dire, but I believe it's not solely the fault of the company that carried out the work; other factors have also contributed to this deterioration, such as the weather and wear and tear. Serious intervention is needed.
