Marigliano – A brutal, sudden, and, most frighteningly, completely senseless attack. This is what happened the other evening to a 15-year-old girl in Marigliano, the victim of the fury of two girls her age while she was near the Villa Comunale.

What was supposed to be a moment of relaxation turned into a nightmare that left the young woman with a broken arm, numerous abrasions, and a deep psychological wound.

The dynamics: the absurd pretext of violence

The victim was sitting on the steps of the villa with some friends, eating chips, when her attention was drawn to an altercation nearby. A simple exchange with her friends—"What's going on?"—was enough to trigger the two tormentors' reaction.

The bullies first ordered the 15-year-old to come closer, then attacked her with unprecedented violence, throwing her off the steps.

The timely intervention of the Carabinieri, alerted by the victim's parents, who were immediately called by their daughter, allowed the two perpetrators to be identified, but the gravity of an act carried out with extreme recklessness in front of numerous witnesses remains.

The mother's cry of pain

"Now my daughter is afraid to leave the house, she won't eat, and she feels ashamed of what happened," the young woman's mother wrote in a heartfelt letter to the Green-Side Alliance MP, Francesco Emilio Borrelli. The clinical picture goes beyond the serious physical injuries: "These incidents don't just leave physical damage, they also open up profound psychological wounds in our children." The family's request is clear: the attack must not go unpunished, and places of gathering must once again be safe havens.

Borrelli's attack: "Juvenile delinquency is a major emergency."

MP Borrelli took a harsh stance on the matter, bringing the case to public attention: "This is gratuitous and alarming violence in a place that should be a space for healthy social interaction. We are witnessing yet another example of increasingly precocious and aggressive juvenile delinquency, which must be addressed decisively."

The MP called for increased security in public squares and public parks: "The trauma of a young girl who today feels ashamed of a crime she didn't commit is shocking. We demand that all responsibilities be ascertained; we cannot allow brutality to become the norm among young people."

It's truly sad to read about incidents like this happening in places where people should feel comfortable. Violence is senseless and strikes those who don't expect it. We hope there are measures in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
