San Nicola la Strada – In the early morning of yesterday, January 4, 2026, the Carabinieri of the local station arrested a 29-year-old man of Israeli origin, already known to law enforcement, for illegal possession of narcotics.
The operation was launched during a targeted operation to combat and prevent drug dealing in the municipality of San Nicola la Strada. The officers subjected the man, who resides in the city center, to a personal and home search, finding several items related to drug dealing.
Specifically, approximately 18 grams of hashish, divided into numerous doses ready for sale, were found on the suspect's bed, along with €16 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of a recent sale. A precision electronic scale and packaging materials for individual doses were also seized nearby.
The drugs, cash, and material found were seized and held pending filing with the competent judicial authorities. After completing the required formalities, the arrested man was held in the Carabinieri holding cells, at the disposal of the judicial authorities, who ordered a summary trial.

The news of the arrest of a 29-year-old Israeli is important, but the social context must also be considered. Drugs are a serious problem, and more attention should be paid to preventing them and supporting those in need.
