Monte di Procida – The Carabinieri of the local station have executed a precautionary custody order against the arrest against a 40 year old local man, considered to be seriously suspected of incendio doloso of cars.
The order, issued by delegation of the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, comes at the end of a detailed investigation coordinated by the investigating magistrates. The contested incident dates back to the night of 10 October, when – in a street in the town centre – a regularly parked car was intentionally set on fire.
The fire, which spread rapidly, involved other nearby vehicles, creating a situation of concrete danger for public safety and for nearby homes.The investigators reconstructed the facts starting from the images of the systems video surveillance installed in the area, supplemented by witness evidence and careful monitoring of the suspect's movements before and after the criminal event.
The evidence that emerged—deemed serious, precise, and consistent by the investigating judge—led to the issuing of the precautionary measure.The man, a resident of Monte di Procida, is now under house arrest pending the development of the preliminary investigation.It is recalled that, as for any criminal proceeding under investigation, the person subjected to the measure remains to be considered presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
