A 44-year-old man in the Caserta area has been charged with robbery at a gas station.

The man believed to be responsible for the robbery that occurred on the morning of January 20th at a gas station in Santa Maria a Vico, Caserta, has been identified and charged at large. He is a 44-year-old man from Arienzo, already known to law enforcement, and was identified following a swift and targeted investigation conducted by the Carabinieri of the local station.

According to investigators' reconstruction, the man allegedly burst into the service station disguised and armed with a scythe, threatening the employee on duty and forcing him to hand over the takings, amounting to approximately €300. This sudden and violent act caused considerable alarm in the community, particularly due to the use of a potentially lethal weapon.

The investigation allowed for a precise reconstruction of the robbery's stages thanks to cross-analysis of public and private video surveillance systems and testimonies collected immediately after the incident. These elements led to the identification of the alleged perpetrator within hours.

During the search of the suspect's home, officers found and seized clothing believed to be consistent with that used during the robbery and a smartphone, which is now being examined by investigators. The man has been reported to the judicial authorities and will face charges of aggravated robbery.
