Fear erupted yesterday afternoon on Corso Umberto I, where a woman was robbed in the city center while walking along the street. State Police officers intervened, arresting a 43-year-old man of Algerian origin, charged with improper robbery, resisting arrest, and assaulting a public official.

According to the reconstruction, the Flying Squad's Hawks, engaged in specific territorial patrols, noticed a man moving suspiciously, closely following a woman. Moments later, the suspect approached the victim and stole two wallets from her backpack. To ensure his escape, he didn't hesitate to use violence, lunging at her.

The police intervened immediately. They chased the robber and managed to subdue him after a struggle, during which the man resisted. Once apprehended, he was found in possession of the two wallets that had just been stolen, thus confirming the robbery.

The 43-year-old was subsequently arrested and taken to the police station, while the stolen goods were returned to their rightful owner. The incident rekindles the focus on safety in the city's busiest areas, where the presence of law enforcement remains crucial to combating predatory crime and ensuring timely intervention.

It was a very unfortunate incident that makes us reflect on how security is never enough in certain areas. Even though the police intervened, there are too many risks. Women should be better protected in these situations.
