In Portici, near the Royal Palace, the Carabinieri arrested Emilia Esposito, a 40-year-old already known to law enforcement, after discovering a functioning drug dealing hub set up in an apartment building, highlighting how crime continues to defy the authorities' vigilance.

Portici – A sophisticated video surveillance system, installed to monitor the arrival of law enforcement, was not enough to protect the drug dealing hub set up in an apartment building on Via Università, a few steps from the historic Royal Palace of Portici.

Carabinieri officers from the Ercolano station arrested Emilia Esposito, a 40-year-old woman from Cercola, known to the authorities, on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing.

The operation and the shadowing

The intervention was triggered following a surveillance operation near the building. Officers observed a man crossing the threshold of the building, appearing wary and clearly agitated.

Once stopped at the exit and searched, the man was found in possession of four doses of crack and one of hashish, confirming investigators' suspicions of the presence of an active drug dealing point in the building.

The technological "fortress" and the notes

The subsequent raid on the woman's home revealed the logistics of the illegal activity. In addition to a monitor connected to external cameras to evade security, the Carabinieri found:

Narcotics: 15 doses of crack and 9 of cocaine ready for sale.

Cash: €290 in small denomination banknotes, seized as proceeds of drug dealing.

Logistics: Various packaging materials and the so-called "pizzini", handwritten sheets containing figures and names attributable to the drug market accounting.

Emilia Esposito was arrested and detained at her home, where she remains under house arrest at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The buyer arrested outside the building was reported to the Prefecture as a drug user.

It's amazing how law enforcement is able to uncover these cases, but it's also sad to see how people continue to deal despite the obvious risks.

The article is very interesting and gives pause for thought about the crime situation in Portici. However, there are many security flaws that shouldn't be overlooked, because citizens have the right to live in a safe environment.
