A twenty-one-year-old from Benevento was arrested by the Carabinieri on charges of stabbing a peer in the city. He faces charges of aggravated assault with a bladed weapon, following an investigation that completely overturned the initial reconstruction of events.
The Carabinieri investigation began on January 2nd, when the victim presented to the emergency room of Benevento hospital with a stab wound under his shoulder blade. The young man remained hospitalized for several days and initially claimed that the attack had occurred in a residential area and that the perpetrator was a man of foreign origin.
Subsequent investigations, however, disproved that version. Through analysis of surveillance footage and a series of investigative findings, the Carabinieri reconstructed a different sequence of events, placing the incident in another neighborhood of the city and identifying the perpetrator as a twenty-one-year-old man from Benevento, already under a restraining order with a permit.
Based on the evidence gathered, the young man was arrested. The investigation shed full light on an incident that had initially raised unfounded fears and suspicions, providing a more precise picture of what happened.
