Bruno Petrone, the eighteen-year-old footballer stabbed on Via Chiaia, has finally returned home. His parents announced the news, choosing to accompany the occasion with a long, emotional and grateful public letter addressed to their son and to all the people who saved his life.

"Finally, we're coming home," they write, and immediately clarify that their first thanks can only be for Bruno. A heartfelt thanks from two parents who watched their son fight between life and death.

"Thank you, our son, because you didn't give up even for a second, not even when everything seemed too big, too unfair, too painful." In those days that they themselves define as "terrible," they explain that they learned from him what strength truly means: watching him resist, they understood that courage exists and is stronger than fear.

Then their thoughts turn to a figure who remains nameless, but forever etched in their memory: the emergency room doctor. "For us, you were an angel," they write, "arriving in the darkest hour, when time seemed to stand still and we too could not breathe." The parents confide that they hope to meet her one day, even if only to thank her for saving their son.

Our thanks also go to all those who cared for Bruno in the minutes and hours following the attack. Thanks to the ambulance doctors for their speed and expertise; thanks to the doctor at the San Paolo Emergency Room for the attention, professionalism, and sensitivity she demonstrated from the very first moment.

And a "huge" thanks goes to the head physician who performed emergency surgery on Bruno the evening of the episode: "Into those hands we entrusted the most precious thing we had, and we will never forget it."

The following words are addressed to the intensive care unit, which accompanied the family "through the longest days of our lives." In particular, the parents mention Dr. Arcopinto and the department's chief, Ferrara, thanking them not only for their professionalism, but above all for their humanity: for every word spoken at the right time and for every look that made them feel less alone.

Nor are the hospital security staff forgotten. The security guards at the facility are thanked "one by one" for their understanding, patience, and respect toward two parents "destroyed by fear." This, too, they emphasize, was a gesture of care.
Bruno's journey then continued at another hospital, Ospedale del Mare, in the invasive surgery department. Here too, his parents express their gratitude to the head physician who subsequently took charge of the boy, continuing his journey with care and responsibility.

Finally, almost as if fearing they'd forgotten someone, Mom and Dad write: if, overwhelmed by the pain and confusion of those days, they haven't mentioned everyone, they apologize. But they assure them that each of them will remain forever in their memories.

"You saved our son," they conclude, "but you did more: you supported two parents while the world was falling apart." A debt of gratitude that, for them, will never end. The letter ends with a final, simple, yet powerful "Thank you. With all my heart," signed by Bruno's parents.
