There were moments of fear and tension late on the evening of January 20th in Capodrise, in the Caserta area, where Carabinieri officers intervened to stop a serious incident of domestic violence that had occurred inside a private residence. A 40-year-old man was arrested on charges of domestic abuse after threatening his live-in mother with a kitchen knife.
The alarm was raised by a call to the European Emergency Number 112, reporting an imminently dangerous situation. Officers from the Mobile Radio Section and the Marcianise Company arrived on the scene within minutes, finding the woman clearly agitated. According to the investigation, the victim had been subjected to harassing behavior and repeated threats from her son for over a year.
During yet another episode of violence, the man allegedly wielded a large knife, threatening to kill his mother, and creating a climate of terror that required the immediate intervention of law enforcement. The weapon was seized and made available to the judicial authorities for subsequent proceedings.
During the investigation, the Carabinieri also acquired several videos posted on social media, which allegedly documented the threats made to the woman. The footage was forwarded to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere Public Prosecutor's Office and is now being examined by investigators.
Given the situation that emerged, the 40-year-old was arrested red-handed for domestic abuse, a crime under Article 572 of the Criminal Code. By order of the judicial authorities, he was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, where he will remain pending a sentencing hearing. The victim was referred to local anti-violence centers, as required by law, to receive support, assistance, and protection.
