Casavatore – In an atmosphere of profound reflection and sense of community, the community of Casavatore celebrated the feast of Saint Sebastian the Martyr, patron saint of the Local Police.

The religious service, held at the Church of San Giovanni Battista, represented an important moment of unity between the institutions and law enforcement agencies who work daily to ensure the safety of citizens.

A celebration in the name of service

The Holy Mass was officiated by the parish priest, Father Carmine Caponetto, who during his homily emphasized the high ethical value of the mission carried out by the Local Police officers, recalling the example of courage and integrity of Saint Sebastian. The saint, a Praetorian officer who lived in the 3rd century, has become over the centuries a symbol of dedication to duty and protection of the vulnerable.

The authorities present

Representing the municipal administration in the front row was Mayor Fabrizio Celaj, whose presence demonstrated the city's support for the Municipal Police. At his side was Local Police Commander Francesco Perrella, leading the platoon deployed for the occasion.

The event also saw significant participation from other law enforcement agencies, confirming the strong spirit of inter-force collaboration present in the area:

The Commander of the local Carabinieri Station, Marco Puledda;

Representatives of the State Police;

Numerous civil authorities and delegations from local associations.

The celebration of San Sebastiano in Casavatore thus confirms itself not only as a religious tradition, but also as a necessary institutional event to renew our shared commitment to protecting public order and respecting the rules.

The celebration of San Sebastiano was truly a significant event, but I don't know if all the participants understood the ceremony's true meaning. It's beautiful to see the community united, but there's always room for improvement.
