Castellammare di Stabia – State Police responded quickly yesterday afternoon in Castellammare di Stabia, where a 46-year-old local man, already known to law enforcement for specific property crimes, was arrested for snatching theft.
Officers from the local police station, carrying out territorial control operations, noticed the man violently ripping earrings from a woman's ears on Viale Europa before fleeing on a scooter.
The chase was immediate: although the suspect accelerated sharply in an attempt to lose his pursuers, the police managed to catch up with him and stop him after a few hundred metres.
The recently stolen earrings were found on the man and were immediately returned to their rightful owner. The 46-year-old was arrested for aggravated theft by violence and escape.
After the formal procedures, he was made available to the judicial authorities. The incident confirms the police's constant attention to the phenomenon of snatch thefts, which is particularly hateful when it affects defenseless people on the street.
