Castellammare, scooter theft by push: Carabinieri discover a cache of stolen vehicles. Two arrests.

Castellammare – A night of intense patrols in the city center resulted in two arrests and the recovery of several stolen scooters. Carabinieri officers from the local company, supported by officers from the local police, successfully dismantled a small cache of stolen two-wheelers.

It all started when officers noticed two young men, Carmine Maggio (born 2006) and Rosario Di Tommaso (born 2004), pushing a recently stolen scooter along the streets of Castellammare di Stabia. It was a classic "push" theft, a technique that allows the vehicle to be driven away without starting the engine to avoid immediately attracting attention.

Suspicious, the Carabinieri followed the two at a distance to an apparently abandoned warehouse. There, they intervened and apprehended the alleged thieves, who resisted, resulting in a violent struggle. Once subdued, Maggio and Di Tommaso were arrested for aggravated theft.

A knife was also found in Maggio's pockets. A search of the depot revealed three other scooters that had previously been stolen; all vehicles were returned to their rightful owners. During the same patrol, which focused on the city's busiest areas, further irregularities emerged.

Four people were fined for possession and use of narcotics, while 15 traffic violations were issued, most of which were for driving without a helmet and lack of insurance coverage.

The two arrested individuals, by order of the judicial authorities, were placed under house arrest pending a summary trial. This operation confirms the intensification of services to prevent and combat predatory crimes in the Castellammare di Stabia area.
