The Permanent Conference of Services for the yards Roads and Events has given the green light to new traffic devices that, in the coming months and until 2027, will affect several arteries of the city of Naples for public works, infrastructure projects and cultural initiatives.
In Fuorigrotta, the current traffic structure will remain in effect until May 8, 2026, in the parking area at the intersection of Viale Kennedy and Piazzale Vincenzo Tecchio, where hydrogeological rehabilitation and sewer system upgrades are still underway. The work will also affect a section of Viale Kennedy, narrowing the roadway by approximately 50 meters, while still maintaining two-way traffic. Paid parking spaces will be suspended and protected pedestrian walkways will be maintained.
In the historic center, from January 19 to February 10, 2026, pavement repair work will continue on Via Anticaglia, between Largo Proprio d'Avellino and Vico Gerolomini. The street will be closed to traffic, with the exception of residents heading to garages and driveways, construction vehicles, and emergency vehicles, who will be allowed to use alternating one-way traffic along Via San Giuseppe dei Ruffi.
Also starting January 19th and continuing until August 1st, 2026, an area in Piazza Museo facing the entrance to the Galleria Principe di Napoli will be occupied to allow for restoration work on the monumental building. Four taxi stands will be temporarily relocated to the blue-lined parking spaces near the National Archaeological Museum.
Long-term interventions are also planned in Scampia: from January 20, 2026, to December 31, 2027, as part of the "Restart Scampia" project, vehicular traffic will be prohibited on Viale della Resistenza, on the side of the former Lot M of the Vele. Access will be permitted only to residents of the Piazza della Socialità park. Via Tancredi Galimberti will also be narrowed, leaving only one lane available towards Viale della Resistenza.
From January 26 to February 21, 2026, ItalgasReti will carry out excavation work to replace a pipeline between Via delle Repubbliche Marinare and Via Stefano Barbato. The work will take place with traffic open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the construction site cleared daily after completion.
Temporary traffic changes are also planned for January 27 and 28, 2026, on Via Crocelle at Porta San Gennaro and on Via dei Vergini, for energy efficiency improvements. The affected roads will be closed to traffic during the morning hours, with parking prohibited and alternative routes marked.
Finally, on January 27, 2027, for the cleaning of the rainwater collection network, a section of Salita Principi will be closed to traffic, with diversions onto Via San Vincenzo and Salita Scudillo.
Events: The "Christmas in Piazza Gravina" event will be held on January 24, 2026, as part of the "Christmas in Terza 2025" festival, which was postponed due to inclement weather. From 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, several streets between Via Santi Giovanni e Paolo, Piazza Gravina, and Via Marco Aurelio Severino will be closed and parking prohibited, with alternate routes and temporary traffic changes.
A comprehensive set of measures will reshape the city's mobility in the coming months, with the goal—the City Council emphasizes—of ensuring safety, urban redevelopment, and the smooth running of events.
