MARZANO DI NOLA – Ten cubic meters of hazardous waste containing asbestos were seized in recent days in Marzano di Nola, in the Avellino province, by local Carabinieri. The material, found to be highly hazardous to health, had been dumped without authorization on land owned by a local construction contractor.
According to the reconstruction, the waste originated from building demolition and renovation work, but instead of being disposed of properly, it was dumped in an uncontrolled manner. The area was immediately seized, and the business owner was charged with uncontrolled storage of hazardous waste, a crime that carries heavy fines.
The incident refocuses attention on waste management in the construction industry and the consequences of reckless or illegal behavior, which pose a real risk of environmental contamination and harm to public health.

This is a situation that must be resolved urgently, because dumping such hazardous waste is unacceptable. We need more controls and tougher penalties, otherwise people's health is in danger. Let's hope something is done.
