Italian and international fashion mourns Valentino Garavani, who passed away today in Rome at the age of 93. The designer and entrepreneur, founder of the house that bears his name and an absolute symbol of timeless elegance, passed away at his Roman residence, surrounded by the love of his family and loved ones.

The Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation announced his passing in a message posted on social media, which immediately went viral. With Valentino, one of the most iconic figures of Made in Italy has passed away, one who spanned over half a century of fashion history, leaving an unmistakable mark of refinement, rigor, and absolute beauty.

Born in Voghera in 1932, Valentino Garavani built a globally recognized creative empire, dressing heads of state, movie stars, and entire generations of women. His signature red represented more than a color: it was a style, an identity, a statement of elegance.

The chapel of rest will be set up in Rome at PM23, Piazza Mignanelli 23, on Wednesday, January 21st and Thursday, January 22nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., to allow those who loved him to pay their respects. The funeral will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, in Piazza della Repubblica, a symbolic location in the heart of the capital.

Valentino's passing not only marks the end of an extraordinary career, but also of the very idea of fashion as an art and an absolute discipline. His legacy will live on in his creations, in the aesthetic language he imposed on the world, and in the cultural history of a country that, thanks to him, has learned to be synonymous with style.
