Naples – Late in the afternoon of Thursday, January 15, a 67-year-old woman was injured in Naples after being struck by a scooter thrown from above. The incident occurred in Piazzale Tecchio, in the Fuorigrotta neighborhood, in an area adjacent to an access ramp to a multi-story parking garage, from where the object was presumably launched.
The woman was walking along the road when the scooter, which had fallen from an estimated height of about eight meters, suddenly struck her. Rescued by 118, she was taken to Cardarelli Hospital with a code orange status. Upon arrival, she was alert and conscious.
Initial assessments do not indicate serious injuries, but the patient remains hospitalized with a guarded prognosis at the Trauma Center for the necessary tests.
Officers from the San Paolo police station responded to the scene and began an investigation to reconstruct the incident and identify any potential culprits. The scooter was seized and will be subjected to technical inspections. Investigators are gathering witness statements and video surveillance footage from the area to determine whether it was a deliberate act or an accident.
