An operation by the Carabinieri led to the seizure of a mechanical workshop in San Nicola la Strada, revealing how illegal waste management poses a real threat to the environment and public health, underscoring the importance of rigorous controls in the sector.

San Nicola la Strada – Carabinieri conducted an environmental raid in the Caserta area: a 150-square-meter motorcycle repair shop was seized, completely lacking the necessary permits.

The operation was carried out by members of the Vitulano Carabinieri Forestry Unit, in collaboration with colleagues from the San Nicola la Strada Carabinieri Station, during targeted checks aimed at combating environmental and waste management violations.

During the inspection inside the premises, the military found a real workbench equipped for disassembling and repairing motorcycles, complete with tools, bolts, screws, cans of used paint and lubricants.

Of particular note is the presence of containers containing used oil destined for disposal and used batteries, hazardous special waste that must follow specific traceability and authorized disposal procedures.

Investigations revealed that the owner—a 49-year-old resident of the municipality—did not possess any authorization to operate the auto repair business at that location. He did, in fact, hold valid permits, but they were valid only for another location.

In light of the serious irregularities discovered, the Carabinieri placed the entire premises under criminal seizure and reported the 49-year-old man, who is at liberty, to the competent judicial authority for illegal waste management (Article 256 of the Consolidated Environmental Act).

The operation confirms law enforcement's constant vigilance towards production activities that, operating without permits or in violation of waste regulations, can pose a concrete risk to the environment and public health in the Caserta area.
