The Sanctuary of Montevergine remains temporarily inaccessible due to the landslide that forced the closure of the connecting road from Mercogliano. To maintain its connection with the faithful, the Abbey has decided to move the celebration outside the sanctuary walls, relying on social media.

Starting next Sunday, Sunday Mass will be broadcast live at 10 a.m. on the official Facebook page of the Abbey of Montevergine. The connection will be made directly from the Sanctuary and the Chapel of the Madonna di Montevergine, allowing the faithful to follow the celebration even remotely.

The initiative stems from the need to maintain a sense of communion and unity in faith, despite the logistical challenges of the emergency. The closure of the road has made it impossible to reach one of Campania's most cherished and symbolic places of worship, a destination of pilgrimages for centuries.

While waiting for the restoration of traffic and full accessibility to the Sanctuary, the social media livestream becomes a tool to maintain the bond between Montevergine and its community, allowing devotees and pilgrims to continue participating, albeit remotely, in the liturgical life of the Abbey.

It's sad to see the sanctuary closed, but the online Mass initiative is helpful. It's important to stay united even if we can't be physically present.

The article discusses the closure of the Sanctuary of Montevergine, which is a problem for many faithful. Live Mass is a good idea, but I hope they return to in-person celebrations soon.

I don't like the sanctuary being inaccessible, but the idea of an online celebration can help people feel part of the community even from afar.
