Naples – The link between the judiciary and technical rescue services is growing stronger in the city of Naples. Today, Friday, January 16, 2026, the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office hosted the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding between the investigating office and the Fire Brigade.

The agreement, signed by Public Prosecutor Nicola Gratteri and Fire Brigade Commander Giuseppe Paduano, aims to institutionalize and strengthen collaboration between the two agencies on critical fronts requiring interdisciplinary expertise.

The ceremony was also attended by the Head of the Fire Department, Prefect Attilio Visconti, who emphasized the initiative's importance: "This agreement strengthens institutional collaboration on highly significant issues and projects. We thus enhance the Corps' technical, scientific, and operational role, placing it directly at the service of legality and citizen safety."

Technology and Law: the pillars of the agreement

The agreement is not merely formal; it aims to streamline investigative processes that require the assistance of the Fire Brigade's highly skilled professionals—from risk analysis to complex emergency management—by integrating the Corps' operational capabilities with the investigative needs of the Prosecutor's Office led by Gratteri.

With this signature, Naples places itself at the forefront of the creation of inter-force cooperation models, focusing on prevention and technical precision as tools to combat illegality.

It's important that the agreement between the Fire Department and the Prosecutor's Office be well-structured, but I don't understand how agreements can improve safety; concrete action is needed. Let's hope it actually works.
