Naples – During the night, an illegal bonfire lit in Vico Santa Maria della Neve threatened to spread, affecting the garden of the Maria Pagano International State Institute, sparking fears among residents. The intervention of the Carabinieri prevented further damage, reigniting the debate.
Naples – A small fire broke out overnight in the center of Naples, where Carabinieri officers from the Centro Company responded to Vico Santa Maria della Neve to extinguish a blaze burning in the street. According to initial reports, around thirty people set fire to a pile of wood that had been accumulated for the traditional celebrations of Sant'Antonio Abate.
The flames, fueled by the piled-up debris, spread to include part of the rear garden of the Maria Pagano International School, located on Via Andrea D'Isernia, causing concern among local residents. The intervention of law enforcement prevented more serious consequences, but the incident has rekindled awareness of the phenomenon of illegal bonfires.
Investigations are underway to identify those responsible for starting the fire and ascertain any criminal liability.
Last night, Carabinieri from the Stella Company also seized approximately five quintals of firewood in the Sanità district, likely intended for the so-called "fucarazzi" fires associated with the feast of Saint Anthony the Abbot. This operation is part of a broader control plan aimed at preventing fires and situations that pose a threat to public safety.
