Naples – The Naples Police Headquarters' extraordinary territorial patrol operations to combat drug possession and trafficking continue. Yesterday evening, the State Police arrested a 27-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to law enforcement for specific criminal convictions, on charges of illegal possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
The operation took place in the Arenaccia neighborhood, where officers from the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station, on patrol, noticed a motorcycle with a young man on board who, upon seeing the patrol car, attempted to drive away to avoid being stopped.
The escape attempt lasted only moments: the police caught up with him and stopped him on Via Francesco Ferrante D'Avalos. Following the search, the 27-year-old was found in possession of 53 bags of marijuana, pre-packaged and ready for sale, weighing approximately 340 grams, as well as €265 in cash, divided into bills of various denominations, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
Based on the evidence gathered, the young man was arrested by the operating personnel and handed over to the competent judicial authorities. The operation is part of a broader effort to prevent and suppress drug-related crimes in the city's neighborhoods.
