Naples – The Naples Police Headquarters' offensive against drug trafficking in the neighborhoods surrounding the Central Station continues. Yesterday evening, State Police officers arrested a 31-year-old Nigerian man, already known to law enforcement, on charges of possession with intent to sell, assault, and resisting a public official.
The operation began during a routine patrol on Via Cesare Rosaroll. Officers from the Vasto-Arenaccia Police Station caught the man exchanging a package for a banknote with a buyer, who quickly fled into the nearby alleys.
Upon seeing the patrol car, the 31-year-old attempted to flee on foot, sparking a brief but frantic chase. Once caught, the suspect put up a determined resistance, engaging in a scuffle with the officers in an attempt to avoid being arrested.
After having immobilized him, the officers proceeded to a personal search, finding:
18 packages containing heroin;
40 euros in cash, believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity.
The 31-year-old, who has a prior conviction for similar crimes, was taken to the police station and arrested pending a summary trial. This operation is part of a series of extraordinary checks implemented to combat the degradation and widespread lawlessness in the Porta Capuana area.
