Yesterday, in Fuorigrotta, Naples, a 67-year-old woman was struck in the face by an electric scooter launched from a rooftop, leaving the community in a state of shock. Police are currently investigating two teenagers suspected of being responsible for the intentional act.
Naples – The incredible news story that occurred yesterday in the heart of the Fuorigrotta neighborhood could have turned into a tragedy.
A 67-year-old woman was hit in the face by an electric scooter that literally "rained" from the sky, hurled from the roof of a building that houses the offices of the ASL Napoli 1 and the Serd service.
The dynamics: a deliberate launch
According to initial investigations by officers at the San Paolo Police Station, the scooter did not fall accidentally. Investigators suspect it was intentional: the scooter was thrown from a height of between 7 and 8 meters, from a parking area located on top of the building.
The victim was walking along the perimeter of the building when she was struck by the heavy object. Despite the violent impact to her head, she remained alert and conscious during first aid, though clearly in shock.
The victim's condition and the investigation
Emergency services responded immediately, transporting the sixty-seven-year-old to the Cardarelli Hospital Trauma Center with a code orange status. Her condition, though serious, is not life-threatening: doctors are keeping her under close observation to monitor the head trauma she sustained.
Meanwhile, the investigation is focusing on identifying the perpetrators. The case is reportedly closing in on two young men, known to the area, who were reportedly seen near the roof shortly before the incident. Police are now examining footage from local health authority surveillance cameras and from nearby businesses, which may have captured the launch or the suspects' escape.
