Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi announced this morning his intention to adopt a general and permanent measure to manage the city's nightlife. The decision comes after the expiration of the temporary ordinance that had regulated the Cisterna dell'Olio area, a key hub for Neapolitan nightlife.

"Following this experience, we are evaluating a general measure that would implement the guidelines we issued in the ordinance, which was necessarily temporary," the mayor stated. The goal is to transform the experience gained in recent weeks into structural rules, ensuring continuity in managing the situation.

The timetable

Manfredi announced that the new measure will be submitted to the City Council for consideration in February. "We would like the rules introduced to be continuous or with minor modifications," the mayor specified, implying that the regulatory framework of the previous ordinance will essentially be confirmed.

This development marks a shift in the city administration's strategy, moving from emergency measures to comprehensive regulation of Neapolitan nightlife, in an attempt to balance the needs of residents, shopkeepers, and young people frequenting the city's nightlife districts.

Mayor Manfredi appears to have good intentions, but it's important that the rules are clear and well-communicated to residents. Nightlife is a complex phenomenon, and balancing the various interests isn't easy. We hope for an effective solution.
