Late yesterday afternoon, officers from the Pompeii State Police Station executed a precautionary detention order, issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Torre Annunziata Court at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, against a man seriously suspected of domestic abuse and extortion against his father.
According to investigators' findings, the suspect allegedly subjected his elderly father, for over three years, to constant requests for money to purchase narcotics, sometimes even several times a day. When he refused, the man allegedly responded with threats, damage, and violence.
The repeated harassment and violence suffered are said to have forced the victim to abandon the family home for approximately four months, finding herself living on the street and sleeping in her own car.
The last contested episode dates back to January 11, 2026, when, in Pompeii, the suspect kicked his father's car, damaging it, and then forced him to withdraw 20 euros from a post office and give him the money.
The investigation, launched after the complaint and coordinated by the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office, has yielded serious evidence of guilt through the analysis of images from the city's video surveillance system and the questioning of people with knowledge of the facts.
Following the formal procedures, the man was taken to the Giuseppe Salvia prison in Naples-Poggioreale, where he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

Reading this article, it seems strange to me how things can get this far, especially in families. I don't know how someone could do such terrible things to their own parent. It's truly a sad and complicated situation.
